Cisco IPSec VPN loses shared secret

Sometimes users lose Cisco IPSec VPN Shared Secret and I have no idea why. It happens seemingly randomly and users only notice it when they try to use VPN and then during troubleshooting we see the shared secret field is blank. Users dont have access to the setting so they can't delete it and we don't notice it when it's happening so its nearly impossible to troubleshoot. It also only happens to some VPN users.

Running OS X 10.9.5 and OS X 10.10.5.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or has anyone seen this behavior before?
